SEO starts with keywords. But the right keywords need to be done with a number of tricks.

Here are 8 techniques to find the right keyword and keyword placement for SEO. What is that?

1. Determine the Primary Keywords

Determining the main keywords is very important. From here you will look for keyword variants, eliminate unnecessary keywords, find keywords that have not been used by competitors, find keywords that are often searched for by buyers, and also position of keyword placement.

The main keywords usually consist of two to three words. For example if you have a Korean movie download site, your main keyword is “Korean movie downloads”. From here, you can find companion keywords, derivative keywords, and keywords that need to be avoided.

For example, your site is a legal movie download site, then you don’t need to target the keyword “free movie downloads”. This might bring traffic, but if you don’t provide the promised free movies, the user will close your site’s tab. The site tab that is closed for less than 10 seconds is considered bad by Google, and will lead to a decrease in rank.

2. Target Long Keywords

80% of organic traffic on the internet is generated by visitors looking for something using four to five more words.

Long keywords, aka long tail keyords are a must in targeting Google’s first rank. With long keywords, we can target specific niches.

3. Use Keyword Research Tools

Thinking about keywords is not the right way to get keywords.

So, use keyword research tools to get the right keywords for SEO. There are many keyword research tools themselves: Google Keyword Planner, Ubersuggest, Hittail, Ahrefs, Keywordtool.io, and many more.

All keyword researchers have their own advantages. Google Keyword Planner can show the level of keyword competition, Ubersuggest can display derivative keyword suggestions, Hittail shows long keywords, and much more.

4. Contain Competitor Keywords

Sometimes, even though we have got some keywords that are ready to be included in the article or product, we are still not sure whether the keywords we have are effective.

If so, why not copy competitors’ keywords?

An easy way to cheat on competitors’ keywords is to copy the URL of your competitor in SpyFu. SpyFu itself is a research tool that can be used to analyze your own sites and those of others. From here, you can get a number of keywords that have been used by competitors.

Another way is to use the SEOQuake add-on. SEOQuake itself is more or less the same as SpyFu, the difference is SEOQuake will be better if it is used to analyze only one page, so we don’t copy the homepage URL, but directly to one specific page from the competitor’s site.

Another tool for gathering competitors’ keywords is the KeywordSpy tool.

5. Target is also a Keyword with Lack of Competition

The most searched keywords are good. When you enter page one, you will get massive amounts of traffic.

The problem: everyone thinks the same thing. This makes the keywords that have big competition are difficult to penetrate.

If it is so, there is no harm in targeting keywords that lack competition. Thus your chances of getting into the Google page one are bigger. No amount of traffic actually doesn’t matter. If the keywords have minimal competition successfully won, your chances of getting into big competition also become easier.

You can also add keywords with minimal competition in the main keywords. You can add matching keywords, which can be obtained in the following way.

Type the main keyword on Google.

Scroll down, you will find a number of search suggestions as follows.

That is a companion keyword that you can enter in your article. Thus, you can target many keywords in one article.

This technique can be done if you are looking for ideas for your next article, or to research the product you want to sell. And to optimize keyword placement dont forget to put keyword in your article in title and on first paragraph to show its important word.

7. Use Local Search

One more technique to find the right keywords for SEO is to use local search. Data from Google shows that 50% of Google searches are locally based searches, and half local searches end in purchase transactions.

Maybe this doesn’t apply to all searches, but if you use SEO for commercial sites, you need to do local-based keyword research.
